Programs
Options - Course Changes
Complementary course choices (options) should be made carefully. Generally, students are expected to remain in the classes chosen. Changes in a course must be applied for in writing within five instructional days of the start of the new school year. Academic changes are disruptive to students and can only be done under extreme circumstances. Such changes will be considered only after the parent or guardian requests the course change (in writing) and the reasons why the change is being requested. Following receipt of requests, grade level teachers and administrators will consider and rule on these requests.
Co-curricular Programs
Paterson has a variety of fine programs designed to meet the many interests and diversified talents of our students. These programs give all our students the opportunity to gain experience in a wide range of varying activities and provides an opportunity for worthwhile involvement during the noon hour and after school.
A) Intramurals – Students have an opportunity to participate in a wide variety of noon-hour intramural activities. All are designed so that house teams compete against each other. Students are asked to sign up on teams. There are also individual activities for those who prefer to compete on their own. Some of the events planned for next year include the Tug-o-war, Blind Volleyball, Belly Baseball etc.
B) Clubs – Paterson School offers a club program to meet the students’ varied interests and abilities, and to give students an opportunity to experience a wide range of activities. The club program is not compulsory, however, having committed themselves to a club, students are expected to make every attempt to be at sessions. Most club sessions are held at noon or after school. Some of the clubs which may be offered are as follows: Select Choir, Cross Country, Stage Band, Decoration, Track & Field, Photography, Arts & Crafts, Math Tutoring, and Homework. Clubs will be offered where student interest and staff/community sponsorship warrants. Other clubs than those indicated above may be organized upon student request.
